About
Mission Statement
We build community and provide resources for families of multiples in the Greater Seattle area.
Who We Are
Seattle Families Of Multiples (SFOM) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed to offer support to local parents and expectant parents of multiples (twins, triplets, or higher order multiples). We are a volunteer organization run cooperatively by and for its members. Our club grows each year; we currently serve over 300 member families.
SFOM values the diversity of its membership. We welcome diversity of ability, age, class, culture, ethnicity, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, race, background, family structures, and parenting models. This diversity strengthens our community.
Peer-Support Model
Families of multiples face unique needs and challenges that are often best understood and supported by peer families. These challenges may include journeys with infertility or unexpected multiples pregnancy, high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, increased emotional and physical postpartum struggles, experience of loss and isolation, pre-term labor and preemies in the NICU, child developmental delays, balancing same-aged sibling relationships and identities, navigating school systems and school-age challenges, and strain on family resources and relationships. And too, families of multiples experience unique joys, such as the special bond their children share, watching each of their children’s individuality blossom, and so many funny, sweet moments… times two, three, or more!
We strive to support the success of families by providing opportunities for parents to build peer-support connections that allow them to share the joys and challenges of parenting multiples and to access relevant information and resources for their families.
